Heyboer, and their children Nathaniel and Joel, serve the Lord
amoung the Dayaks in West Kalimantan on the island of Borneo.
Their main work is church planting, raising up leaders, reaching and teaching children, and giving practical assistance wherever possible.
They have seen about 40 churches planted with the help of local workers. One of the main goals of church planting is to raise up those who will eventually be able to care for and evangelise their own people.
In the process, they have provided practical assistance including:
- teaching basic health and hygiene skills, baby care, etc.
- giving medical advice and providing basic medication.
- providing children in some of the poorest villages with milk,
vitamins, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste etc.
- paying for hospital treatment for those who require it, whenever possible.
In 1998 they opened their first boarding home to accommodate children from isolated or remote villages to enable them to continue their schooling. They provided a safe environment where the children are regularly taught God's word, receive three meals a day, outside sponsorship for those that cannot afford to pay their school or accommodation fees, and medical care.
Ronny and Kay originally purchased two fifths of a square mile of virgin forest because God had spoken to them to begin to prepare a place for one thousand neglected tribal children. Please read on below...
