How You Can Apply

Short Term Opportunities

If you are interested in a Short-Term Opportunity, the first thing to do is to write a one-page document about yourself.

You will need to include:

  • your name, address, telephone number and email address
  • your age and marital status
  • your past work, ministry experiences, gifts and abilities
  • when you will be available
  • people who can give you references

If you would like to discuss your thoughts before you email anyone, please contact David Elliott, the Short Term Team Co-ordinator on david.elliottworldoutreach.org.sg or contact your World Outreach National Office (in the UK: 0203 642 4873).

The document you have written should be emailed to the missionary with whom you are interested in working, and a copy sent also to the World Outreach national office and the World Outreach Regional Director for that region to keep them informed.

Be aware that there can be no guarantee of placement, and it has to be entirely up to the missionary to decide whether his / her particular field can benefit from your experience and help.

All financial costs incurred by the applicant, including travel to and from the field, insurances, and staying on the field are the applicant's responsibility.

It is important that you have an email address for correspondence purposes. If you do not have one, perhaps one of your family will let you use theirs, or you can get access to email in a library.

Long Term Opportunities

If you are interested in a Long-Term Opportunity, or you are interested in being considered by World Outreach for full-time mission work, first produce a one-page document as for Short Term Opportunities, and send it (preferably by email) to your nearest national office.

Your national office will mail you application forms and forms to be completed by referees. You will also need a medical report. The application form will ask you about your spiritual life and service and missionary calling, your education and finances, your family and background, and your spiritual journey.

All the forms should be completed and mailed back to the national office who, if it is felt that World Outreach can proceed with your application, will make arrangements for you to be interviewed by members of the national mission board. Part of the application process requires a psychometric/psychological test to assess the suitability of applicants. Mission work can be difficult and lonely at times, and it is important to carry out the selection process very carefully.

When all documentation is in place and the UK board is satisfied with the application, the final decision will be made by World Outreach International leadership in Singapore.

The whole process can take from three to six months and incomplete documentation will cause delay.

Be aware that World Outreach is a faith mission, and that all field personnel are expected to raise their own support and trust God to supply funding for ministry projects. Please contact the national office for more information about this if you need to.

It is important that you have an email address for correspondence purposes. If you do not have one, perhaps one of your family will let you use theirs, or you can get access to email in a library.
