New Missionaries to Mozambique

April 14, 2005

Steve and Rebekah Besford are the most recent couple to join World Outreach from the UK.

Now preparing themselves to work in Mozambique, perhaps joining Colin and Jenny Ayling at Maziotela Ministries, Monapo, Nampula province, Steve and Rebekah have their time cut out visiting friends and preparing for a fact-finding trip to Mozambique.

Until recently they have lived in Glasgow, worshipping with Bishopbriggs Community Church where they have made many friends, Rebekah working as a nurse, and Steve as an engineer with a major airline. But now they have moved to Farnborough in Hampshire, where they are nearer their respective families.

As they make their preparations to go to Mozambique, they will be worshipping with St Peters Parish Church, Farnborough, Rebekah's home church for many years, and a community very supportive to mission and to Steve and Rebekah in particular.

A combined Service of Dedication for Nyasha,
and Commissioning for Steve and Rebekah
is arranged for Sunday April 24, 2005
at St Peters Parish Church, Farnborough starting at 6.30pm,
which you are invited to attend.

Timetable

Steve and Rebekah feel that the following schedule is realistic for what they have to do between now and January 2006, although, naturally, it is provisional.

Until the end of April, 2005 Farnborough
Until halfway through July, 2005 Visiting World Outreach missionaries and projects in Mozambique
Until the end of August, 2005 Farnborough
Until the start of December, 2005 Oporto, Portugal for language study
  Until early January, 2006 Farnborough
From early in January, 2006 Mozambique

Prayer

Please pray for Steve and Rebekah in all the practicalities of getting to Mozambique:

  • for good health, especially for their baby daughter Nyasha (born in December), safe travel and God's guidance as they visit in Mozambique, seeking to determine where they should go and what, initially, they should do.

  • that they cope well with learning the Portuguese language (which is the official language throughout Mozambique), and caring for Nyasha at the same time.

  • for deepening relationships with friends, sending churches and the mission, and the provision of the right people in a supporting role in the UK to look after their affairs at home.

  • that everything they need to do by way of preparation can be fitted in before their provisional leaving date in January 2006.
